Kaya (Hello) I am Rachel, I am a proud Wardandi woman and am currently the 2022 Indigenous Officer for the Student Representative Council. You may have seen me -or more likely heard me- at our O-Week stall, Market Days and at a lot of different events.
During my time in the SRC, I have had a focus on community involvement and providing information and resources to students. I understand that University is difficult for many people and want to make it as accessible and enjoyable as possible. My passions lie with creating equity amongst all students at Griffith and being a voice for you – especially our First Nations mob.
Outside of the SRC, I am a Forensic Science student, a GUMURRII Tutor, a School Engagement Mentor for Griffith and a martial artist. I have previously worked in High Need Special Health Care and Education in a primary school in Toowoomba which was hard work but a whole lot of fun.
If you see me around, come and have a yarn (even if it is just to get free stuff life food truck vouchers and stationery). I will leave you with a quote from one of my favourite lecturers – “If you leave University with just a degree, we have failed you.”
