Hi! My name is Haylee Day, I am one of the committee members for the Mount Gravatt campus, currently completing a Bachelor of Education majoring in secondary teaching. Being a part of the SRC means bridging students’ needs and what our university provides. This heavily relies on building connections with students and listening to what changes need to be made.
I aim to be someone that always listens to what students want and pushes their suggestions forward. Compassion and dependability are integral to understanding what students want from their university experience and providing an inclusive environment on campus where everyone feels valued and accepted. Throughout my time with the SRC, a memorable accomplishment was seeing the positive impact of handing out fruit boxes. Promoting healthy eating and providing students with access to food aims to help ease their financial burden and make the university a more enjoyable experience. All events where students are able to enjoy activities that would have previously been out of budget are always the most rewarding experiences to participate in.
While I love studying, reading is my favourite pastime, and I could spend all day with a good book. I also play volleyball in my free time and love spending my holidays travelling home to spend time with my family.
