Meet the SRC Board

2026 SRC Board

We’re always on your side, putting your needs first! We spend our days organising great events and courses, promoting your advocacy needs and assisting you throughout your university journey.

The SRC has your back when you need it the most and are a loud voice for all your uni concerns. We are constantly striving to make beneficial changes in response to the needs of undergraduate students.

The SRC represents students across five Griffith University campuses: Digital, Logan, Brisbane South (Nathan), and Brisbane City (GFS, QCAD and QCGU), with the Brisbane City Treasury Campus coming soon.

Archie Howgate

Hey, I’m Archie Howgate a Political Science and International Relations. I’m passionate about building a stronger campus community where students feel supported, heard, and proud to be part of Griffith. I’ve worked in hospitality and entertainment since high school, which taught me how to stay calm under pressure, communicate clearly, and make people feel welcome, skills I’m trying to bring into the SRC.

I’ve also been involved in campus life through student clubs and events, helping with events beyond the classroom. As someone who knows the challenges of balancing study, work, and life, I want the SRC to focus on what really matters to students, such as improving wellbeing, affordability, and the overall Uni experience. When I’m not studying or working, you’ll probably find me at the gym, catching a game, or hanging out with mates at the pub!

Connor Widdowson

Ever wonder if there is any more to Uni than essays, two-minute noodles, and awkwardly waving to people you sort of know? I’m Connor, and I’m here to advocate for a more vibrant and social Uni culture. I am currently studying a Bachelor of Business majoring in Political Science and International Relations.

I have spent the past two years of my life studying, working, and investing my finances into schooners at the UniBar. As someone who values social connection, I aim to deliver fellow students the unforgettable University experience they deserve.

Studying political science has helped me in understanding many things, one of them being that politics divides people. Therefore, I actively advocate to keep political agenda out of the SRC and focusing its attention on addressing student needs.

Mariska Simpson

Hello, I’m Mariska, a dedicated committee member of the SRC. I’m pursuing a double degree in Law (Honours) and Business with a focus on Government and International Policy. Joining the SRC team is a thrilling opportunity, and I’m excited to be part of this dynamic group.

I have a genuine passion for making a difference and helping others, whether it’s in the classroom, across campus, or within the community. My aim is to contribute positively to enhancing the Griffith University experience for all. When I’m not immersed in my studies or SRC commitments, I cherish moments spent with my family.

Olivia Walden

Hi, I’m Olivia! I’m an economics nerd studying Political Science and International Relations at the Nathan Campus. I’m passionate about community building and have decided to devote my university life to curating a friendly and inclusive environment for all students here at Griffith.

So far, I’ve worked through Clubs to get students involved in university life, but I’ve decided to take that further by joining the SRC Board, so my efforts to build community can expand to all students. In a mission to provide Griffith students with the university experience they came here for!

I want the SRC to address the everyday issues that actually matter to students, such as ensuring easy, guaranteed access to feminine hygiene products for female students and public announcements from the university about construction projects.

Daniel Connor

Hello, I’m Dan, and I’m a dedicated committee member of the SRC. I’m pursuing a degree in Advanced Business (Honours). Joining the SRC team is a thrilling opportunity, and I’m excited to be part of this dynamic group.

I am truly committed to bringing back and revitalising our campus culture. My aim is for everyone to have a safe space to engage and collaborate across all campuses, so that the Griffith Uni experience is positive for everyone.

Kore Opie

Hi, I’m Kore! I’m a socialist activist, studying ICT at Nathan. I’ve spent the last few years helping to build activism and protests in Brisbane on cost-of-living, abortion rights, refugee rights and more.

Over the past year I’ve been involved in building the cross-campus student strikes for Palestine as well as the first ever protest for Palestine on Griffith campus! I want to push the SRC to be an activist body that organises students to fight for their rights and for issues they care about.

There’s a lot of issues impacting students right now, from course cuts to cost-of-living. I think the SRC should be an active fighting force that resists attacks by the government and corporate universities on student rights.

Kyle Low

My name is Kyle Low, and I am a councillor in the SRC and a socialist. I am a 3rd year Science and Data student here at Griffith Nathan.

Throughout my studies, I have been involved in organising protests and meetings in support of various social issues. I think it’s important that we stand against attacks on students’ living conditions, whether it’s fighting rent increases or opposing course cuts. I’m passionate about standing with Palestine, supporting abortion rights and workers’ rights.

When we come together, we can win a better world, and I want the SRC to be a part of that.

Spencer Holzheimer

Hi, I’m Spencer Holzheimer, I’m currently studying a Bachelor of Government and International Relations and serving in elected positions on both the Academic Committee and Student Representative Council board.

As someone who identifies as neurodivergent and after having been forced to flee my home last year due to domestic violence, leading to my withdrawal from T2-2023 due to the resulting mental health issues, I am intimately aware of the university’s shortcomings and lack of support for students in crisis and students with advanced needs.

I aim to use this role to further advocate for student well-being and push for the creation of a robust crisis support strategy.

Lana Browne

Hi, I’m Lana Browne, a third-year studying a Bachelor of Environmental Science and Data Science.

As part of the Student Representative Council, I’m focused on improving students’ day-to-day experience at university and contributing to a more positive, connected campus culture.

I’m passionate about creating an environment where students feel supported, heard, and genuinely enjoy their time at Griffith Uni. Whether it’s through practical improvements or strengthening our sense of community, I’m committed to helping make campus life more engaging and accessible for everyone.
