Statement on Iran written by an Iranian Griffith University student
The statement below was written by an Iranian Griffith University student and is published here, by the SRC Board, at that student’s request.
The SRC stands with the people of Iran in their fight for freedom, not their government nor their invaders.
Supporting students impacted by the escalating conflict in Iran and across the Middle East
The SRC stands with the people of Iran in their fight for freedom- not their government, nor their invaders.
We stand with all students navigating this distressing situation. We stand with our student community affected by the escalating conflict in Iran and across the Middle East.
We recognise how deeply distressing these events are – particularly for students with family, friends and loved ones in the region – and for those facing discrimination or emotional distress closer to home.
Your Wellbeing
If you are in Australia and impacted, you can access confidential help through Griffith Counselling and Wellbeing.
Students can also call the Griffith Mental Wellbeing Support Line 24 hours, seven days a week on 1300 785 442 or text 0488 884 146.
Student Services and support
We encourage you to reach out if you need support. Assessment adjustments may be available if your studies are impacted, and our advocacy team can help with any academic concerns at advocacy@griffith.edu.au.
